Jeannette M. Patterson, 93, beloved mother and grandmother, of Grove City, PA, and formerly of Warren, PA, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Orchard Manor in Grove City.
Born on October 12, 1922 in Tidioute, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry G. and Anna Bauer Nelson. On September 2, 1943 in Cochranton, PA, she married Carl “Pat” Patterson, who died on February 6, 1991.
Jeannette graduated from Bemus Point High School in 1940 and later attended a business college in Jamestown, NY. While living in Warren she was employed at New Process Co. during World War II. She and her husband lived in Grove City from 1951 – 1988 where Jeannette worked at Grove City College for many years. They later moved to Florida. Jeannette moved back to Grove City in 1993. She was a member of Tower Presbyterian Church in Grove City. She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed reading.
Jeannette is survived by her two children – Robert Patterson and his wife, Sherry, of Douglas, GA, and Beverly Morley and her husband, Raymond, of Grove City, PA, 6 grandchildren – Brittany Patterson, Donovan (Rachael) Patterson, Ross Morley, Dawn (Jeremy) Fairgrieve, Natalie (Michael) Dougherty, and Ashley Morley, 7 great-grandchildren – Rorie, Breylin and Merida Dougherty, Kayden and Chase Fairgrieve, and Destiny and Skyler Morley. Jeannette is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Wilcox and her husband, Evan, of Russell, PA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Nelson.
Family and friends from Grove City are invited to attend a memorial service to be held at 4PM Friday, September 30, 2016 in the Great Room at Orchard Manor, 20 Orchard Drive, in Grove City. Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA, on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 1 until 2PM at which time a funeral service will be held with Rev. Dr. Don Howard, retired Presbyterian minister, officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery. So very sorry to learn of Jeannette’s passing. You probably do not remember me as we were unable to be in touch with your parents for many years. Carl and Jeannette visited my mother (Kathleen Smith) many times when my siblings (Carl was an older cousin) and I were young children. Jeannette was a sweet and kind person, and we enjoyed knowing her. I tried to drop her a note when I learned she was back in Grove City but could not get an address. Our family sends sincere sympathy, and pray for comfort and peace for you at this time.
