David N. “Doc” Rounds, 65, of Warren, PA., died Friday morning, May 20, 2016 after a brief illness, at UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA., surrounded by his family.
Doc was born February 13, 1951 in Warren, PA. He was the son of the late Fred “Doc” and Violet Nasman Rounds. He was formerly of Sheffield, PA., and has resided the last 29 years in Warren. Doc was a 1970 graduate of Sheffield High School and attended 1 year at Juniata College. He had served with the United States Army from 1970 to 1975 as an E-5. He was employed with United Refining Company as a pipefitter, retiring in 2007 after many years employment.
He had coached Junior Varsity Football and Baseball and was an avid sports fan. He especially loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates, the University of Pittsburgh and Notre Dame.
He was a member of the Warren American Legion Post 135, Warren Elks Lodge #223.
Doc is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margo Miley Rounds, whom he married June 23, 1973 in Sheffield, PA., 1 Son – David F. Rounds of Moon Twp., PA., 1 Sister – Valarie Pierson and husband, Craig of Warren, PA., 3 Nieces – Laura Hughes of West Grove, PA., Heather Consla of Abingdon, MD., Kelly Consla of Erie, PA.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA., on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 5 to 8 P.M. where the Warren Elks Lodge Members will conduct their funeral ritual at 7:45 P.M.
A funeral service will be conducted there on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. William Cox, officiating, followed by full military honors by members of the U.S. Army and the John Gertsch Vietnam Memorial Post. Interment will be in Barnes Cemetery, Barnes, PA. So sad. I will miss that happy bluster, that booming voice, a constantly gregarious character. What a happy warrior for the Steelers. Gone too soon.
Wow! So many memories of “Doc” through high school! No one could take an offensive foul like David!
