Eleanor Rowland Johnson was born in Lander on October 1, 1934, to the late Paul Clark Rowland and Bertha Wenzel Rowland. After graduating from Sugar Grove-Farmington High School in 1952, she worked in the Correspondence Department at the New Process Company for several years. She and her husband, Darrell Johnson, purchased what became known as Dar-El Farm in 1962 where they operated a Holstein dairy farm.
She was an active member of the Akeley Christian Fellowship Church for over 60 years and held many offices. She was a member and past president of the Akeley United Methodist Women. She also attended the Warren County Christian Women’s Club.
She served as secretary-treasurer of the Warren County Farmer’s Association and served on the board of directors of the Warren County Cooperative Extension. She was a past president of the Hill and Dale Garden Club.
A descendant of William Wadsworth who came from England in 1632. She was active in the Kanoagoa Chapter Daughters of the American Colonists and served many years as Regent.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She treasured her family and loved their family vacations at the beach. She was active in the community and known for her good cooking. She loved family gatherings and attending the Warren County Fair.
She married Darrell Chase Johnson on February 22, 1958, in the Lander Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on February 3, 2011. She is survived by two sons: Dan Johnson (Mary Frances) of Pittsburgh and Brad Johnson (Anita) of Erie. Also 6 grandchildren: Seth Johnson (Natalie) of Pittsburgh, Ryan Johnson of Erie, Stephanie Johnson of Elizabethtown, Nicholas Johnson of Erie, Sami Johnson of Erie, and Stacey Payne (Danny) of Hillsboro, OH. She is also survived by two great grandchildren: Wyatt & Ava Payne of Hillsboro and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Kyle Chase Johnson on May 5, 2013, two brothers, Robert, and Howard Rowland and two sisters, Pauline Sarvis and Leah Bacchetti.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home Inc., 304 East Street Warren, PA, on Friday January 10, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 11, 2025, at 11:00 am at Akeley Christian Fellowship Church, 541 Akeley Rd. Russell PA 16345, with the Rev. Todd Venman, pastor of Wiltsie Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA. Knew Eleanor through Hill & Dale garden club. Where she was a very active member holding many offices and was President several times! Always enjoyed seeing her and sending sincere sympathy to all the family!

Our condolences to the Johnson family after we learned that Eleanor passed on Sunday. She was a very nice lady and raised some fine men. I enjoyed seeing her FB posts and how she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with all of her extended family. Peace to all and enjoy all your memories of her.
