Dear Jackie,
My family and I are truly going to miss you in the neighborhood. Mom (Madeline) always appreciated your occasional visits and your kind gifts of fresh garden tomatoes and produce grown with love and care. Many a time the wonderful aromas of slow cooked meat from your back yard grill would leave us salivating and yearning for what you were dining on that particular evening. I will never forget that casserole you made back in the 1970’s that included crushed potato chips on top and how Darla really raved about that…Oh, how I miss those days and find myself more and more saying “remember when?”
I think the biggest thing about you that we are going to miss the most about you Jackie is your smile and your infectious laugh…..oh that laugh…I can still hear your laugh right now as I type this. The memory that I wish I could have told you in person, was that I still have that turtle pin. You remember. For those who can’t recall the details, I will recall them here. Back in the 1960’s, you and your family vacationed in Florida and Madeline and children birdsat your two parakeets. When you returned from Florida, you brought each one of us kids a token of appreciation and mine was a purple turtle pin with Florida written across its back. I still cherish that and have kept that in my jewelry box for the past almost 50 years.
When your family moved to Water Street, Darla and I became best of friends. I still hold her in high regards although we haven’t seen each other in a very long time. She to this day remains one of my dearest friends. We always have our memories and secret thoughts.
I wish I’d had the wisdom to cross that street several times to come see you. May you rest easy and God Bless you. I do hope that your husband and family take comfort in knowing that you are in God’s hands now and are looking upon them and are with them every step of the way.
So sorry to hear about Jackie. Loved her dearly even though we haven’t talked for years. I didn’t even know about all the things she accomplished after I left. May she rest in peace.
I saw Dean when I was home on the 16th of August. So sorry I did not stay and talk with you longer. One thing you said to me was “I miss her so much” and that hit my heart. How much you 2 loved each other for all of those years. Thinking of the family at this time, I loved Jackie so much, she was a shining star. Becci, was right, her laugh, she used it a lot and it was one of a kind. Knowing how much she was
loved and will be missed, she is always going to remain in the hearts of many. Please take solace in knowing this. Bev.
Dean, So very sorry about the passing of your wife, Jackie — I have many good memories of the both of you while working at Sylvania — Jackie was such a nice lady — Keep the faith my friend and we will all meet once again but in a much better place — Your friend Bill Grove —
Condolences to the White family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your whole family. Psalms 147:3 says Jehovah God, “heals the broken hearted, and binds up their wounds.” May God bring you comfort and peace.
