Dorothy Bella Higgins, age 89, previously from Warren, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 29th, 2022, at the Rouse Home in Youngsville, Pa where she had been a resident for the past 2+ years.

Dottie was born on April 13, 1933, in Boston, MA to James and Bella Beattie. She married Franklin Higgins in 1955 and lived in Dunkirk, NY until moving to Warren in 1962.

After raising their only child, Jim, she worked as a librarian for many years at Beaty Jr High School.

Dottie was very involved in the Warren community belonging to the Pleasant Township Elementary PTA, Warren Garden Club, Antique Study Club, Woman’s Club of Warren, Warren General Hospital Auxiliary and held various officer positions in these Clubs. She was also a member of Grace Methodist Church and volunteered with many events held there.

Dottie is predeceased by her parents, her husband Franklin who passed away on August 11, 2008, and her sister Anne Sauer of Delmar, NY.

She is survived by her son James and his wife Anne, her much loved grandchildren, Abigail and Drew also of Warren, and her great granddaughter Willow Bascom who affectionately called her “Gigi”, her sister Edith Beattie of Boston, MA, her brother-in-law Reg Sauer of Delmar, NY and his children Sandy Goodrich and family of Glenmont NY and Scott Sauer and family of Delmar, NY.

Family will receive friends at Grace United Methodist Church parlors, 501 Pennsylvania Avenue East, Warren, PA., on Thursday, August 4, 2022, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 P.M. when a funeral service will be conducted by Rev. William Beatty, Pastor. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
