James C. Gray, 75, of Russell, PA., died Thursday afternoon, July 7, 2022, at his residence, after an extended illness. He was born in Warren, PA., on February 25, 1947, to the late Burdette F. and Ruth Kifer Gray. He was a Warren area resident his entire life. Jim was a 1966 graduate of Warren High School. He had served with the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War. Jim was employed as a production supervisor at Blair Corporation, for 35 years and then worked at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home. He was a member of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church where he was a former Eucharistic Minister and former church council member. Jim was a member of the Warren Council of the Knights of Columbus and a former bowling league member. He also was a member of the Warren Eagles Aerie, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. He was an avid hunter.
Jim is survived by his wife, Karen L. Rosenquist Gray, 7 Children – Melissa Stanko and husband, Jason, of Warren, PA., Michael Gray of Sheffield, PA., and Jennifer A. Gray of Warren, PA., Renee Tomasonni Brown and husband, Tim of Russell, PA., Paul Tomassoni and wife, Debbie of Centerville, MD., Maria Munksgard and companion, John Dailey, Nicholas Tomassoni and wife, Brittany all of Warren, PA., 1 Sister – Nancy Dengel of Oil City, PA., 11 Grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Burdette D. Gray.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA., on Monday, July 11, 2022, from 6 to 8 P.M.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, 11 Russell Street, Warren, PA., at 10:00 A.M., with Fr. Stephen Schreiber, Pastor, and Fr. Richard Tomasone, Pastor of St. Joseph R.C. Church, officiating, assisted by Deacon Raymond Wiehagen. Entombment will be private at the convenience of the family in the niche mausoleum in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted at the time of burial by members of the U.S. Army and Sheffield/Clarendon V.F.W. and Warren American Legion Funeral Detail. I was so sorry to hear the news of Jim’s death. Please know that I am thinking of you and hope to extend a hug if I see you during a Warren visit. I always smile remembering the time we ran into each other in MD at church. Jim may have lost his battle but I am sure he won the war, —peace and no more suffering.
