Ralph T. Christy, 77, of Warren passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022, in his home surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness.
He was born in Warren on July 22, 1944, the son of the late U.S. Army Captain Ralph L. Christy who was killed in action during World War II and Mary Clinger Christy. Ralph attended grade school in Tidioute and went on to graduate from Cathedral Prep in Erie, Class of 1963. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in 1967. Ralph had many jobs throughout his career, he worked for Talon Zipper in Meadville and in Los Angeles, CA. He moved to work at Universal Button in Ontario, Canada, finally returning to Warren and retired from Highland/Groboski in Sheffield in 2004. Ralph was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church where he volunteered for many years with the soup kitchen, weddings, and banquets. He was the expert dishwasher appreciated by everyone. Ralph was also a Sons of the American Legion Member with Post 293 in Warren.
Ralph married the love of his life, the former Patricia Hunter in 1966, in Tidioute at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, they spent the next 55 years making loving memories together with their family. Ralph is survived by three children: Mary Riisen and her spouse Robert, and their children Connor, Taylor, Amanda, and Cooper all of Downingtown, PA; Patrick Christy M.D. and his spouse Marc Sambula of Rosslyn Farms, PA; and Mark Christy and his spouse Jennifer (Trumbull), and their children Dominic and Rachel, all of Warren.
Friends may call the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home Inc., 304 East St., Warren, PA, on Monday April 4, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 5, 2022, at 10:00 am in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 600 Pennsylvania Ave. W., Warren PA, with the Rev. Richard Tomasone and Ralph’s godson from Duquesne University the Rev. William Christy as concelebrants. A private burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery.
