Joseph W. Slack, 64, of Warren, PA. died at his residence Tuesday afternoon, February 4, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born January 8, 1950 in Buffalo, N.Y. He was the son of the late Lyle Slack and Eileen Potratz Slack Anderson. He was a veteran with the U.S. Marine Corp. serving as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1976. Joe was a longtime Warren area resident and had resided in Bullhead AZ. for 15 years. While in Bullhead, he was employed as a dispatcher with the Bullhead City Taxi service. He lived to ride his motorcycle and had rode
cross country 6 times. He enjoyed attending Sturgis and Daytona Beach Bike Week. He also enjoyed attending his sons and grandsons baseball games.
Joe is survived by his wife of 21 years, Cora Hamilton Slack whom he married April 10, 1992 in Bullhead City, AZ., 4 Children – Harold Slack and wife, Jennifer of Warren, PA., Dennis Slack and wife, Claudia of Reedsville, N.C., Kileigh Bees and her son, Chase, Joseph Scott Slack all of Warren, PA., 1 Sister – Pamela A. Wills of Warren, PA., 3 Brothers – Lyle J. Slack and wife, Jane of Glendale, CA., Dennis Slack and wife, Helen of Kissimmee, FL., Jerry Slack and wife, Helen of Niles, OH., 2 half brothers – Fred Altreuther of Lawrenceville, GA., Rusty Slack of Warren, PA., 2 half sisters – Melissa Johnson of Warren, PA., April Barr and husband, Michael of Cherry Grove, PA., 8 Grandchildren, several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Howard Anderson.
A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. by Pastor John Agricola, at Praise Fellowship of Russell, PA. Interment will be in the Veterans Section of Oakland Cemetery. Those wishing to submit e-mail condolences may do so by visiting www.lewisfuneralhomeinc.com
