William H. Mallinson, 88, of Forest Hills, Pittsburgh, PA., died Monday, October 25, 2021, in Pittsburgh. He was born September 25, 1933, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Westmont High School and earned his B.S. and master’s degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Army Signal Corps and with the Alaskan Defense Command. He was a plant superintendent with AT&T and Verizon with 32 years’ service.
Bill was a member of the Johnstown Lodge # 538 of the F&AM; the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry; the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, AASR, in Pittsburgh; the Syria Shrine; and the Conewango Club in Warren, PA. He loved to travel and was a member of the Seven Continent Club after visiting all the 7 continents.
Bill is survived by his sister, Mary Anne Marchl; nephew, Dr. W. H. (Laura) Marchl; niece, Susan Mallinson-Young (Raymond); uncle, Jack Penrod and family; brother-in-law, Chase (Mary) Putnam; niece, Wendy Bowhers, nephew, Andrew Putnam; niece, Ellen (Tom) Paquette; nephew, Ian (Rebekka) Putnam; and travel companion, Sue Schulte.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Ruby Penrod Mallinson; his wife, Anne Putnam Mallinson; brother-in-law, William H. Marchl, M.D., and uncle, John H. Mallinson.
A funeral service was conducted Thursday, October 28, 2021, in Pittsburgh, PA.
A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA.
Memorial donations may be made to either of the Mallinson Scholarship Funds: University of Pittsburgh Bradford or Johnstown Campus or the Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA.

I noticed that two of our adult children were left out – Bill’s nieces and nephews are Wendy Bowhers, Andrew Putnam, Ellen (Tom) Paquette, and Ian Putnam (Rebekka).
Bill, I am grateful for having known you. You were a shining light and were quick to think of others. My condolences to the family.
