Joan “Mort” Gustafson Cornelius, 88, of Warren, PA., died Sunday afternoon, March 14, 2021 at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice Home.
Joan was born March 7, 1933 in Warren, PA. She was the daughter of Sam and Alberta Pochey Massa. She was a lifelong Warren area resident and a 1951 graduate of Warren High School. She was employed as a Psychiatric Aide at Warren State Hospital and also worked as a clerical worker in the hospital treasury office, she retired from the State Hospital and then worked part time for the Warren County Treasurers office when they would allocate hunting licenses. She was an avid bowler, golfer, boater and enjoyed camping at Kinzua Dam. She enjoyed playing cards with the Saturday night poker group. Joan attended every sporting events of her grandchildren and was a “Forever Cheerleader”. Her family was her whole life, they were the joy of who she was.
She is survived by her 6 Children – Jody Howe and her husband, Richard Pellucci of Hilton Head, S.C., Joel Wood and husband, Paul, Jamie Bees and husband, Larry, Stacy Kramer and husband, Ron, Lynn Munch and husband, Jeff, Ed Gustafson and wife, Amy all of Warren, PA. 1 Brother – Ronald Massa of Warren, PA., 1 Sister – Dolores Grogan of Charlotte, N.C., half siblings, Toni Jo Loomis and husband, Chuck, Sam Massa and wife, Gayle all of Warren, PA., Michelle Allen and husband, Kevin of Irvine, PA., Peter Massa and wife, Laurie of Omaha, Nebraska, Renee Sperry and husband, Skip of Ackley, PA. Ann Rich and husband, Martin of Jamestown, N.Y. 8 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Edward Gustafson, 2nd husband, Lennie Cornelius, 1 Sister – Barbara Miller

We were so sad to hear of Joan’s passing. She was such a nice lady and really loved all the kids. Even us neighbor kids that turned her front yard into a football/wiffle-ball field every summer. She will be truly missed. Our sincere sympathies to the whole family.
