Theodore “Ted” Wozneak, Sr., 95, died peacefully Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the home he’s lived in all of his life, held in the arms of his family. He was born October 10, 1925 in Warren, PA., to Matthew and Josephine Novak Wozneak, who immigrated to Warren from Poland. Ted voluntarily enlisted in the Army Air Corp, hoping to be a fighter pilot, but was assigned to Morse Code School and 50 caliber machine gun training. After he came home from the service, he was employed by Smith & Horton as a warehouse man, truck driver delivering groceries, and roasting and packing Maxwell House and Glendora Coffee. When he left Smith & Horton, he was a Xerox operator. Then he was employed for Blackstone Corporation in Jamestown, N.Y., making automobile radiators and heater and automatic washing machines. He left there and was employed by Penelec generating station in Starbrick and Kinzua Dam power plant for 28 years – as a relief operator for 8 years and certified welder for 20 years – when he retired. Ted’s passion in life was reading history books and having a large garden. He would never use any kind of chemicals, sprays or pesticide on anything he grew, and when he canned, he wouldn’t use a gram of salt to preserve. He was proud his family was eating healthy.
Ted is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joan Huston Wozneak, 4 children – Greg (Kelly) of Crozet, VA., Joseph of Kane, PA., Theodore Jr. and Lisa To (Peter) all of Warren, PA., 3 Grandchildren – Laura, Alex and Matthew, several nieces and nephews and Stephen To who was like a second son to him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley and sister, Helena who died in Europe. A brother, Joe, was killed south of Rome during WWII while serving in the 3rd Infantry Division, 7th Regiment in the Anzio breakout to capture Rome. His father died at a young age at the Veterans Hospital in Batavia, N.Y., followed by the death of his mother, brothers, Steve and Edmund and sisters, Mary Byer and Frances Scudlark.
Friends will be received on Friday, November 27, 2020 at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA. from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Richard Tomasone, Pastor, officiating. Full military honors will be conducted after the Mass by members of the Clarendon/Sheffield V.F.W. and the Warren American Legion Post 135 and U.S. Army honor guard. Sending love to the Wozneak family. Mr. Woz was so wonderful to me growing up in Warren and during the St. Joes school years. He was always so friendly and kind when I visited with Lisa on Beech Street. He was such a wonderful man… great memories.
We send our thoughts and prayers. Ted was a loving husband, a nurturing father, and a proud grandfather. Ted served his country, lived his faith, and reveled in his Polish heritage. A reader, a gardener, and an avid Notre Dame fan. What a wonderful life and legacy.

Although I didn’t know Ted well I remember him as a very nice man with a very warm smile. Also, I hadn’t known his history that was in the obituary and which was impressive. Peggy and I are both sorry for your loss and extend our sympathy. Bill and Peggy Morgan
