Doris F. “Dee” Scalise, 86, a resident of Warren Manor died peacefully Sunday, February 3, 2013 at her residence. She was born June 17, 1926 in Sykesville, PA. to the late John and Ruth Buhite Foltz. She was a 1944 graduate of Sykesville High School, then entered the State Nursing School at Philipsburg, PA. to take the three year course in cadet nurses training. She began her career as a Registered Nurse at the Warren State Hospital retiring in 1985. She was a longtime Warren area resident. Doris enjoyed playing golf, bowling and was an avid reader. She was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Conewango Valley Country Club, Jackson Valley Country Club, Blueberry Hill Golf Course, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. She is survived by her daughter – Jodee Andrews of Warren, PA., her son – Jon Scalise of Lakewood, N.Y., 3 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Scalise, (Papa Joe), who died September 17, 2011, whom she married August 28, 1948 in Warren, PA., 1 Sister – Roma Beaton, 1 Brother – Max Foltz.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 4 to 7 P.M. A funeral service will be conducted there Friday, February 8, 2013 at 12:00 Noon with Fr. Richard J. Toohey, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery.
