Margaret A. “Peggy” Blumquist, 91, of Warren, PA., died Thursday morning, August 13, 2020 at John and Orpha Blair Hospice Home after a brief illness. Peggy was born January 21, 1929 in Salamanca, N.Y. She was the daughter of Gilbert and Margaret Newdeck Morton. She was a graduate of Salamanca High School Class of 1947. She was a Warren area resident for the past 66 years. Peggy was employed with the former Comet Market where she was known as the Green Stamp Lady and retired as a clerk from Gaughn’s Drugstore, where she was in charge of designing the window displays. She was a member at St. Joseph R.C. Church. She formerly played organ and piano for a church in Salamanca NY.

She was a member of the dinner and dance club in Warren with her husband, and a former member of Marine Corp Auxiliary.

Peggy enjoyed completing crossword puzzles. She was known to help her father repair cars, had changed her own car brakes and at the age of 87 changed her own oil in her car.
In 2017 she enjoyed riding on her son’s motorcycle with him.

She is survived by her 4 children – Robert Blumquist and his wife, Melissa of North East, PA., Richard “Rick” Blumquist and wife, Teresa of N. Warren, PA., Barry Blumquist and wife, Inge of Stoneville, N.C., Beth Pearson and husband, John of Warren, PA., 1 Sister – Eva Abbott of Gerry, N.Y., 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Frank “Bill” Blumquist whom she married July 16, 1955 in Allegany, N.Y. who died January 27, 2011, 1 Grandson – Sven Blumquist, 2 Brothers – Robert Morton, LaVerne “Gibby” Morton.

Friends may call at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA., on Monday, August 17, 2020 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted by Fr. Richard Tomasone, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery.
