Verner “Vern” Johnson, 86, of Warren, PA, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at his home. Born on July 26, 1930 in Warren, PA, he was the son of the late Albin and Mary Lester Johnson. On August 3, 1951 in Warren, PA, he married the former Betty M. Carlson, who died on October 9, 2014. Vern was a 1948 graduate of Warren Area High School and served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a salesman for the Coca Cola Company, working in Jamestown, NY, and Bradford, PA. Vern was a member of North Warren Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed fishing, carpentry and loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. Vern is survived by his two sons, Rick Johnson and his wife, Kathleen, and Bradley Johnson and his wife, Nicole, all of Warren, PA, 3 grandchildren – Sarah, Rachele, and Christian Johnson, all of Warren, PA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Vern was preceded in death by two sisters, Ernestine Smonsa and Geraldine Meleen and one brother, Elliot “Gus” Johnson. At Vern’s request services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park.
