The Honorable Robert Lea Wolfe, recently of Spartanburg, SC and longtime Warren, PA resident, died peacefully March 13, 2025, nine days after his 99th birthday leaving a legacy of honor, trust, and love.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Eleanor Larson Wolfe, in 1998, and is survived by their six children, thirteen grandchildren and five great – grandchildren. He is also survived by his second wife, Susan McConnell Wolfe and two stepchildren.
Judge Wolfe was born on 4 March 1926, the third eldest of four sons to Stanley Bowman Wolfe and Almyra Matilda Myers. Judge Wolfe served as a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II, participating in combat operations as part of a ten-member crew on the B-17 Flying Fortress deployed to the Pacific Theater. Judge Wolfe returned from military service attending St. Bonaventure University and the University of Buffalo graduating with his Juris Doctor. Judge Wolfe was elected as 12th President Judge, 37th Judicial District, in 1969 and served on the Bench an unprecedented total of 35 years. He was retained for two consecutive terms remaining on the bench for 23 years as President Judge until his 1993 retirement. During retirement he served as Senior Judge for Warren, Forest, and McKean Counties for 12 years, from 1994 – 2006. During his years on the bench, he was appointed to the Juvenile Court Judges Commission serving from 1978 to 1993.
A private Celebration of Life was held by immediate family per Judge Wolfe’s wishes as a practical man who lived in the Faith of Jesus Christ. I saw his daughter Liz at our class reunion and talked about her family and father. My sister used to babysit for them, (Aldean Hansen). He lived a wonderful life and now he is with our Lord and Savior. My deepest sympathy, Crissie Hansen Benson
