Shirley J. Hoden, 89, a resident of the Watson Memorial Home, Warren, PA., died at the Rouse Home, Youngsville, PA., on Thursday, August 14, 2025, after an extended illness. She was born June 5, 1936, in Warren, PA. Shirley was the daughter of Lafayette Dale and Lavina Wenzel DeVore. Shirley was a lifelong Warren area resident and a 1954 graduate of Warren High School. She was employed with the Blair Corporation in the Mailing Department, retiring from there after many years employment. She had been an active member with the D.A.V. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time at Lake Erie where she enjoyed sitting in the warm sun. She was an avid Buffalo Bills Fan. Her greatest joys in life were spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her 3 sons – Daniel R. Cole of Warren, PA., David R. Cole and wife, Kathy of. Minot, N.D., Dr. Tim Hoden and wife, Amanda of Monroe, VA., bonus daughter – Tina Hoden of Sheffield, PA., Son-in-law, Eric Paddock of Strongville, OH., sister – Carol Kinney of Florida, 15 Grandchildren, several Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Hoden, Jr, her daughter – Diana Paddock, bonus sons – Matthew and Michael Hoden, siblings – Joyce Clark, LaVonne Saber, Betty Stewart, Nancy DeVore, infant brother – Harold Anderson.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Sheffield United Methodist Church. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Mark R. Schwanke, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael Byzantine Cemetery, Sheffield, PA.
