Roger D. Whisner, Sr., 84, of Warren, PA., passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, January 7, 2019, after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was born on January 21, 1934 in Clarion, PA, the son of the late Charles G. and Mary M. Smith Whisner. Roger was a graduate of Streator, IL, High School. He then entered the U. S. Marine Corps, serving during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1956. He worked as a mason for International Chimney Company and later worked for Owens-Illinois Glass Co. In 1993, he retired from United Refining Co., but continued to work for Ed Shultz of Warren. Roger was a 50+ year Master Mason with the Streator, IL, Lodge 607 and was a member of the Coudersport Consistory. He was also a 54 year member of the Warren American Legion. In addition he was a member of the Kane Elks Lodge, Warren Eagles Club, the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, the Ferrah Grotto, and the Kalbfus Rod and Gun Club. Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, bricklaying, spending time with his family and watching football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. Roger is survived by his 4 children – Roger D. Whisner, Jr. and wife, Sandy, of Jamestown, N.Y., Sherri Lemmon and husband, Tom, of Pleasant Twp., Richard G. Whisner and wife, Denise of Frewsburg, N.Y., Beth Sawyer of Woolwich Twp., NJ; 11 Grandchildren, 4 Great Granddaughters, 1 great grandson; 1 sister – Barbara Glenn of Sacramento, CA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Wagner Whisner, whom he married on February 2, 1958 in Streator, IL, and who died on June 27, 2017; 1 sister – Bernice Gerdom, and 1 brother – Charles E. “John” Whisner.

Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA., on Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 10:00am – 11:00am, when a memorial service will be conducted with Rev. Dr. William Blair, Pastor of New Creation Assembly of God in Jamestown, NY, officiating. Military honors will be conducted by members of the Youngsville American Legion Post 658 Honor Guard.
