Robert Valone

Robert J. Valone, 90, of Russell, PA. died Thursday, October 4, 2012 surrounded by his family at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice Home, Warren, PA. after a courageous battle with lymphoma. He was born March 26, 1922 in Clarendon, PA. to the late J. Battista and Theresa Frucci Valone. He has resided in the Warren and Russell area most of his entire life and had wintered for 26 years in Oviedo, FL. He had served with the U.S. Army as a Medic with the 304th Infantry Regiment during World War II serving in Germany, where he earned a Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal .

Bob owned and operated Valone Auto Sales in Starbrick, PA. and Oviedo, FL. and also was employed as a car salesman with Midtown Motors and Shults Dodge Chrysler Dealership retiring at the age of 90. He was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Winterpark, FL Elks Lodge, served as 1st Commander of the Oviedo Veterans of Foreign Wars Club and a former member of the Warren Moose Lodge 109. Bob loved going to the Casino and golfing. He is lovingly remembered as a family man who was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. He is survived by his dear wife of 64 years, Jean Anderson Valone whom he married August 7, 1948, 3 Children – Dr. Dennis R. Valone and wife, Pam of Erie, PA., Jim Valone and wife, Ruth of Russell, PA., Pam Falber and husband, Benji of Warren, PA., 5 Grandchildren – Christy, Tracey (David Anderson), Taylor (Jill Dugan), Kendra and Jesse, 3 Great Grandchildren – Brandon, Ryan and Symantha, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 9 Brothers – Dominic, Sam, Ralph, Frank, Victor, Mike, Patrick, Joseph, Theodore and Raymond Valone, 1 Sister – Carolyn Valone. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. on Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. where a funeral service will be conducted on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Neil Siefert, Chaplain of Hospice of Warren County and Rev. David Heckman, Pastor of Russell United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park where full military honors will be conducted by members of the Clarendon/Sheffield V.F.W. Funeral Detail and the U.S. Army personnel.
