Robert L. Blackwell, 80, of Warren, PA died Sunday, July 8, 2013 at his home following a brief illness. Born on July 27, 1932 in Bruceton, TN he was the son of the late Patrick and Clara William Blackwell. On January 26, 1956 in Liege, Belgium he married Jeannine Fontaine who survives. Robert was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving in Prum, Germany for eight years. He had been employed as a stock clerk at Warren State Hospital. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was well known for telling and hearing good jokes from everyone he met. Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Roy James (Patricia Alworth) Blackwell of Rimersburg, PA, Clara Adele McKotch and Ray Glenn Blackwell, both of Warren, PA, five grandchildren, Michelle (Robert) Walburg, Stacey (Eric) Clark, Stephanie (Adam) Cassell, Lisa (Derek) Frank and Kevin Blackwell, three great-grandchildren, Blake Cassell, Alexis Frank, and Owen Walburg, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Rebecca Mitchell, Frances Spence, and Thelma Pennington, an infant sister, two brothers, Dan Blackwell and Billy Blackwell, and son-in-law, Larry McKotch, Jr. A private viewing and service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, Pa with the Rev. Wade Barto of West Middlesex, PA officiating.
