Richard L. Sharp, 84, of Warren, PA died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Rouse Warren County Home. He was born December 21, 1930 in Warren, Pa. to the late Daniel L. Sharp and Vivian Olson Sharp. He was a lifelong resident of Warren and a 1949 graduate of Warren High School. He was enlisted with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed with the Warren State Hospital as Maintenance Dept. Superintendent for 35 years retiring in 1985. He then worked part time with the Warren/Forest E.O.C. where he was instrumental in their weatherization and housing programs. Richard was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, enjoyed camping, photography and oil painting. He is survived by 6 children – Dr. David Sharp and wife, Beverly of Mars, Pa., Richard L. Sharp and wife, Regina of N. Warren, Pa., Donald Sharp and wife, Sherry of Scandia, Pa., Mary Ann Sharp of Warren, Pa., Anna Marie Sharp of Warren, Pa., Douglas Sharp and wife, Kimberly of Warren, Pa., 1 Sister – Doris Carlstrom of Akeley, Pa., 16 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth A. “Bettie” Weidert Sharp, who he married September 6, 1952 in Warren, Pa., and who died on May 5, 2010, 1 Sister – Louise Motz, 3 Brothers – John “Jack” Sharp, Donald Sharp, and Charles Frederick Sharp.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA, on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. with Fr. Richard J. Toohey, Pastor, officiating. There will be no public visitation hours observed. Those wishing to place a memorial may do so through New Hope Assistance Dogs, Inc., 3 Scott Run Road, Warren, PA 16365.
