Richard J. Ahlgren, 75, of Alexandria, VA and formerly of Warren, PA, died Saturday, April 12, 2014 in Alexandria.

Richard was born on November 12, 1938 in Warren, PA, the son of the late Norman J. and Dorothy I. Sederberg Ahlgren. He was a 1956 graduate of Warren High School and served with the U.S. Army from 1961-1963. Richard was a longtime resident of Alexandria and was formerly employed as an analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA and the Conewango Valley Country Club in Warren, PA.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sara “Sally” Ahlgren, whom he married on April 24, 1965 in Warren, PA, two children, Rick Ahlgren and his wife, Lauren, of Irvine, PA and Elizabeth Hunter and her husband, Eric, of Chesterfield, VA, a granddaughter, Megan Hunter, five sisters, Audrey Hart, June Ellington, Betty Carlson, Sharon Pike and Judy Turner. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, David Ahlgren.

Friends may call from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday with Fr. James Gutting, Pastor of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted by members of the Sheffield/Clarendon V.F.W. and U. S. Army personnel.
