Richard “Dick” Whiting, 82, of Warren, PA., died Wednesday morning, July 17, 2019 at U.P.M.C Hamot, Erie, PA. after an extended illness. He was born December 6, 1936 in Sterling Run, PA., to the late Harry A. and Grace Ella Swackhammer Whiting. Dick was a resident of the Warren and Russell, PA. areas since 1965. He had served with the U.S. Army as a specialist 3rd class. Dick was employed with the former Rexnord Inc. for 28 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the First Church of God where he served as a reader in the church and at nursing homes. He was also a member of Saturday Night Dance Club, Jackson Valley Golf Course, Warren Eagles Aerie, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge 109, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. Dick is remembered by his children and grandchildren who appreciate the knowledge and proper ethics he taught them when hunting and fishing. Dick was a man who spoke his peace with kindness and sincerity. He was a moral upright man who lived his faith and lived by his words.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mary Beth Hall Whiting whom he married August 28, 1986 in Sheffield, PA., 3 Children – Stacy Ludwig and husband, Bob of Warren, PA., Keith Whiting and wife, Pam of Edgewood, MD., Bernie Kolenda and wife, Sara of Thompson, PA., 2 Brothers – Stanley Whiting and wife, Meg of Emporium, PA., Harry James Whiting and wife, Paula of Webster, N.Y., 8 Grandchildren – Abby LaFata and her husband, Brian, Braden, Eric Stromdahl, Logan Whiting and Emma Kolenda, Josh McCauliffe, Alex Dominic, Ian Gehris. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Dick was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Carol Tressler Whiting, 2 Brothers– Al and Phillip Whiting, 5 Sisters – Beryl Hazen, Betty Zidar, Margaret Whiting, Stella Kane, Enid Ball.

Friends may call on Friday, July 19, 2019 at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. from 5 to 8 P.M. and at the First Church of God, 1111 Madison Avenues, Warren, PA., on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. when a funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Bill Hargenrader, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA. on Monday, July 22, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. where full military honors will be bestowed by members of the Clarendon/Sheffield V.F.W. Funeral Honor Guard and the U.S. Army personnel.
