Peter Evans Swoger passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at Warren Manor surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 13, 1934 in Franklin, PA and was the son of the late James Wallace and Genevieve (Evans) Swoger. Peter graduated from Oil City High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1963. On April 18, 1959 he married Virginia Ann Sobowski who survives.

Peter graduated from Gannon College in 1968 with a B.S. degree in Accounting. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a member of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, where he served on the Finance Committee and was chairperson for a number of years of the Catholic Services Appeal. He was also a Eucharistic minister. Peter was employed by GTE Sylvania in Warren where he retired in 1995.

In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by his two sons – Fr. Mark Swoger (Miriam) of Washington, PA, and Christopher (Cindi) Swoger of Plano, TX; 4 grandchildren – Matthew (Hollie) Swoger, Nicholas (Rachel) Swoger, and Ashley and Kirsten Swoger, all of Plano, TX; 3 step grandchildren – Jonathan Errigo of Houtzdale, PA, Matthew (Sherry) Errigo of Westmont, IL, and Stephanie Errigo of Clearfield, PA; 1 great step grandchild – Logan Errigo of Westmont, IL; 1 sister – Pat Swoger and 1 brother – Msgr. John Swoger of Edinboro, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by 2 sisters – Janet Rodgers and MaryLou Bryan, and 1 brother – James Swoger.

Friends may call at Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, 11 Russell St., Warren, PA, on Friday, October 4, 2019, from 9:30am until 10:30am at which time a concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held with Fr. Stephen Schreiber, Pastor, and Msgr. John Swoger, officiating. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Erie, PA.
