Nick J. Monti, 83, of Warren, PA, died Saturday, May 23, 2015 at U.P.M.C. Hamot, Erie, PA after a brief illness. He was born May 6, 1932 in Bradford, PA. He was the son of the late Nick J. and Tena Zamberlan Monti, Sr. Nick was a Warren area resident since 1982, and a former longtime resident of Lewis Run, PA. He was a 1950 graduate of Bradford Area High School where he was the running back on the 1949 undefeated football team. He attended Clarkson University. He had served with the U.S. Marine Corp., during the Korean War. Nick was employed with Penelec, working in Bradford, Towanda and Warren, PA, retiring in 1997 after many years employment. He had also worked with his dad in his construction business. He was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Marine Corp League- General Joseph Warren Detachment, Devil Dog Marine, American Legion Post 135, Clarendon Veterans of Foreign Wars Club, Sons of Italy, and the Italian Club of Bradford, PA. He was a former member of the Blueberry Hill Senior and Cable Hollow Golf Leagues. He was a member of Jackson Valley Golf Club where he worked as a ranger and serviced golf carts.

He is survived by his 5 Children – John Monti and wife, Roseann of Meadville, PA., Joe Monti and wife, Robin of Winter Springs, FL., Kathryn Monti of Brookhaven, PA., Vicky Pingie and husband, Mark of Bradford, PA., Julie Moyer and husband, Thomas of Warren, PA., 1 Sister-in-law, Sr. Mary Cecelia Carter of Terra Haute, IN., 2 Nieces & 2 Nephews, 7 Grandchildren – Eric Monti of Laurel, MD., Chris Monti of Westlake, OH., Kelly, Casey and Shannon Moyer all of Warren, PA., Mitchell Sommers of Washington, D.C., Stephanie Sommers of Winter Springs, FL.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Joanne M. Carter Monti whom he married May 8, 1954 at St. Boniface R.C. Church, Anaheim, CA, who died July 10, 2003.

Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA, on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. where a vigil service will be conducted at 3:45 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA., with Fr. Richard J. Toohey, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at McKean Memorial Park, Mt. Alton, PA.
