Lucille Simmons, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in the Hospice Room at Warren General Hospital, due to a intracerebral hemorrhage. Lucille Tompsett Simmons of Warren, PA. was born in Tidioute, PA. on April 30, 1924 to the late Frank C. and Margaret May Vincent Tompsett who were of Tidioute, PA. As a young girl, she was a member of the Methodist Church in Tidioute where she enjoyed playing the piano for Sunday School classes. She was a student in the Tidioute schools and graduated from Tidioute High School in 1942, and then attended Hoff Business College and took “Beginning Shorthand” from Warren County School District offerings. She took courses from the Management Center of Cambridge in 1969 and Penn State University Continuing Education in 1974. Her first employment was at the Emblem Oil Company, and then the marketing division of United Refining Company, from June 24, 1943 to January 31, 1944. Following this position, she worked for the Thomas Flexible Coupling Company, which later became Rexnord, where she worked for thirty-four years as a secretary to various executives. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Warren. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, playing the piano, and boating on the Kinzua Dam and especially enjoyed spending weekends at Connelly Park at Lake Chautauqua where her father had a summer home. She had several dogs throughout her life and enjoyed animals very much. She was married to John William Simmons of West Hickory, PA. on January 7, 1946. He passed away on June 25, 2010, at the age of 87. She had one sister, Audrey Lois Swanson who died August 11, 2003 in Bonita Springs, FL., She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Ann Gupta and beloved grandson, Shaun Anand Gupta both of North Warren, PA., nephews – Jeffrey Warren Swanson of Dubois, PA.., Steven D. Swanson who currently resides with his family in Dubai, a city- state in the United Arab Emirates. Friends may call in the parlors of Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Pennsylvania Avenue East, Warren, PA. on Friday, April 12, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. A funeral and committal service will be conducted there Friday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Kevin Haley, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park.
