Lowell S. Gonano, 82, of Warren, PA, died on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA.

Born on October 11, 1933 he was the son of the late Otto and Alby Solary Gonano. On February 23, 1963 in Beaver, PA he married Maureen Mitchell who survives.

Lowell was a graduate of Turtle Creek High School and later graduated from Penn State University in 1955. He had served with the U. S. Air Force Strategic Air Command and the U. S. Air Force reserves. Lowell had been employed as a metallurgist for 23 years with Babcock and Wilcox in Koppel, PA and later as superintendent of the melt and forge shops with National Forge in Irvine, PA. He was a member of the North Warren Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and also served on the Finance and Nominating Committees and the Men’s Bible Study. Lowell was an avid golfer and also enjoyed camping and fishing.

In addition to his wife Lowell is survived by two sons, David Gonano of Warren, PA, and Dennis Gonano and his wife, Becky, of Dover, OH and their 3 children, Nicholas, Regina and Patrick, 1 sister, Donna Hohman of Jacksonville, FL, 2 nephews and 1 niece. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mercedes McBride of Hampton, VA.

Friends may call from 6-8pm on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. A funeral service will be held at the North Warren Presbyterian Church on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Burfoot S. “Buddy” Ward, III, Pastor, officiating.
