John P. Wallo, 76, of Pleasant Twp., Warren, PA., died peacefully, Tuesday evening, March 5, 2019 at Warren General Hospital. He was born September 27, 1942 in Natrona Heights, PA. John was the son of John and Anna Madik Wallo. He was a Warren area resident since 1966. He graduated in 1960 from East Deer Frazer High School in Creighton, PA. He earned his Bachelors’ Degree in Education with a Major in Physics from the Clarion State College and earned a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from Bowden College in Brunswick, Maine. John was employed for 2 years at East Deer Frazer High School as a school teacher. He moved to Warren in 1966, where he was employed for 40 years, with the Warren County School District as a Mathematics Teacher at Warren Area High School and taught gifted students towards the end of his teaching career at the Warren County Resource Center. He is remembered for being very gifted reaching kids at their level of learning and helping them to move forward in their educational experiences. He made a difference in many young people’s lives. He also worked for 30 years with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board working in the Warren Liquor Store, retiring in 2001. John had a beautiful smile and Santa Claus cheeks.
John was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served on the church board, was an active member, usher and worked on numerous children’s programs. He served on the former WACOPS Credit Union Board of Directors, was an active member with the Warren Kiwanis Club. He loved fishing and hunting.
John was looking forward to being a grandfather for the very first time.
John is survived by his wife of 52 years, J. Darlene Cochran Wallo whom he married June 11, 1966 in Pittsburgh, PA., 3 Children – Christine Wallo of Nederland, Colorado, Joseph Wallo of San Marcos, CA, Eric Wallo and wife, Kelly Tobias Wallo, 1 Grandson John Tobias “Jack” Wallo – all of Pittsburgh, PA.
The family will receive friends at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA., on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. A Memorial Service will be conducted Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Jeffrey Ewing, Pastor, officiating.
