John A. Notoro, Sr., 92, of Clarendon, PA. died Monday evening, November 3, 2014 at UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA. after a brief illness. He was born March 15, 1922 in Clarendon, Pa. He was the son of the late Frank and Mary Suppa Notoro. John was a lifelong Clarendon resident and a 1940 graduate of Warren High School.
He had served with the U.S. Army during World War II as a Corporal. He was employed as a weld mechanic for 24 years with the former G.T.E. Sylvania retiring in 1973. He was an adjunct with the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #75. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed winter sports, playing guitar, banjo and piano.
He is survived by his 3 children – John A. Notoro, Jr. and wife, Deborah of Clarendon, PA., Deborah Dupont and husband, Kenneth of Temperance, MI., Joseph Notoro of Mt. Jewett, PA., 1 Brother – Sam Notoro, 1 Sister – Katherine “Kate” Check both of Clarendon, PA., 12 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Darlene Thomas Notoro whom he married on June 5, 1943 at Ft. Hood, Killeen, TX., 1 Son – Frank Notoro, 4 Brothers – Joseph, Frank, Ralph and Anthony Notoro, 2 Sisters – Mary Benson, Angeline Costello.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. on Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 2 to 5 P.M. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Friday, November 7, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. by Fr. James Gutting, Pastor of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by members of the Sheffield/Clarendon V.F.W. funeral detail and the U.S. Army personnel. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery.
