Howard B. “Rick” McDaniel, 70, of Scandia, PA., passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at his residence. He was born on October 29, 1946 in Washington, D.C. and was the son of Charles Brady McDaniel and Pauline Schafer McDaniel Hopper. Rick had resided in Scandia since 1998, moving there from Pittsburgh, PA. He was a graduate of Athens High School, Athens, GA., and attended Wheaton High School in Silver Spring, MD. He was a graduate of University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. He was Vice President of credit services with the former Kaufmann Department Stores for 20 years, retiring in 1998. After retirement, he had two novels published, “The Rules of the World” and “In The Eyes of Time.” Rick was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Allegheny Outdoor Club, was a former board member of Hospice of Warren County, and had served as a board member of numerous consumer credit organizations of Pennsylvania. He loved hiking, painting, reading, writing, traveling to National Parks and had visited all 50 states, Canada and Japan.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Lyn R. Glass McDaniel whom he married March 9, 2002 in Scandia, PA., 1 Son – Sean Nichols and wife, Yuki of Tokyo, Japan, 1 Sister – Debbie Pullem and husband, Billie, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 2 Grandchildren – Sonia and Louis Nichols of Tokyo, Japan, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Rick is also survived by his special buddy – his cat, Tango. In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by 1 Brother – Steven E. McDaniel, who died on July 9, 2010.

Friends will be received in the parlors of First United Methodist Church, 200 Market Street, Warren, PA, on Saturday, October 14, 2017, from 10am – 11am, at which time a Memorial Service will be conducted with Rev.
