Howard “Howie” C. Brush, 66, of Sheffield, PA, died surrounded by his family on Monday, June 8, 2015 at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice Home, Warren, PA, after a 2 year battle with brain cancer. He was born August 5, 1948 in Kane, PA.

He was the son of LeRoy “Roy” P. and Elaine Rose Bastow Brush, Jr. He was a longtime Sheffield area resident and a 1967 graduate of Sheffield High School. He had earned his Associates Degree in Business.

Howard was Director of the North West Regional office for Governor Ed Rendell from 2002 until 2010 and served as a Warren County Commissioner from 1995 until 2002. He had previously been employed with Howe’s True Value, former Struthers Wells Corporation, former National Forge Company and Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel Corporation. He was a member of Sheffield United Methodist Church, the church men’s bible study and a former church council member. He had previously been a coach for Little League Baseball teams, was a member of Sheffield Rod and Gun Club, former member and past president of the Sheffield Sports Boosters. He enjoyed his grandchildren and even children who were not his grandchildren. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed traveling to Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Deanna Camp Brush whom he married June 29, 1968 at Sheffield Bethany Lutheran Church, Sheffield, PA., 1 Daughter – Amy Brush Markey and husband, Timothy, 1 Son – Steven H. Brush all of Sheffield, PA., 2 Brothers – Francis (Frank) Brush and wife, Pat of Burlington, KS, Alfred (Wesley) Brush and wife, Cindy, of Waretown, N.J., 2 Sisters – Fran Brush of Sheffield, PA., Elaine Fox and husband, Charles of Grand Valley, PA., 1 Sister – in – law, Sheila Brush, 2 Grandchildren – Jacqueline R. Markey and companion, Edwin, Drew Markey, 1 Great Grandson – Isaac James “I.J.” Markey, all of Sheffield, PA, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother – Mark L. Brush, his father-in-law, Dean Camp, his mother-in-law, Elaine Playford Camp.

Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA on Thursday, June 11, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. and at Sheffield United Methodist Church on Friday, June 12, 2015, one hour prior to a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Dennis Johnson, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Sheffield Cemetery.
