Henrietta M. “Rusty” Whittington, 91, of Warren, PA, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018, at Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Warren, PA. She was born on January 1, 1927 in Cassadaga, NY, the daughter of the late Merlin Allen and Gertrude Chisholm Briggs. Henrietta was a 1945 graduate of Cassadaga High School. She then entered the Army Nursing Cadet program and was later employed at Jamestown General Hospital. From 1951 to 1972 she, along with her husband William Whittington, owned and operated Hillside Nursing Home in Jamestown, NY. She later moved to Florida and worked as a charge nurse in a nursing home in Lakeland, FL. She retired at the age of 72.

Henrietta was a longtime member and Past Worthy Matron of Mecca-Mt. Sinai Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Jamestown, NY, and was Right Worthy District Grand Matron of Chautauqua County in 1973. She was also a member of the White Shrine. Henrietta enjoyed embroidery and doing crafts.

Henrietta is survived by her 5 children – Rosalie Logue, Linda Gould, and Clayton Whittington, all of Warren, PA, Mary Whittington of Salt Lake City, UT, and Donald (Wendy) Whittington of Lakewood, NY; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband, William Whittington, whom she married in 1954; a son – David Whittington; and a brother – Harold Briggs. The family will gather privately at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, 304 East Street, Warren, PA, where a private service will be held with Rev. Marcus Briggs, retired minister, officiating.
