frank-r-chiodo-obituaryFrank R. Chiodo, Sr., 84, of Warren, PA., died Saturday evening, October 22, 2016 with his family at his side, after a lengthy illness. He was born May 21, 1932 in Ridgway, PA. Frank was the youngest son of eight, of Luigi and Katharine Davido Chiodo. He has resided in Warren since the age of 4. Frank graduated from Warren Area High School Class of 1950. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from Duquesne University in 1954. He was employed with Howard Grotzinger as a Pharmacist from 1954 to 1960 at the former Warren Drugstore. In 1960 he became part owner of Jones Pharmacy in Youngsville, PA., until 1963, when he started plans for Chiodo’s Professional Pharmacy which he owned and operated from 1964 until 1995.

He was a member of the Warren County Planning Commission, where he was instrumental in changing from a Borough status to a City status. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, where he trained altar servers for about 12 years, taught the RCIA for Adults for 8 years. He was also a former member of the church parish council, and had served as general chairman of the finance committee for St. Joseph School in 1957. On March 21, 2004, Frank was recognized by the church and school. An award known as APPLECORE, for their appreciation of his knowledge shared and his commitments to Catholic Religious Education.

He was an active Jaycee’s member where he had served as Grand Prize Chairman for the Fourth of July celebration when they raffled off an automobile. Frank had served as general chairman for the construction of Tennis Courts at Beaty Field and was instrumental in the construction of the Warren City Swimming Pool. He was a 4th degree member of the Warren Knights of Columbus Council.

Frank is remembered as a man, whom loved his career, helping people, loved to make people laugh and could always be counted on for a quick joke. He loved his family and his church, of which he diligently worked for both.

Frank is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jane Chido Chiodo, 3 Sons – Louis Alan Chiodo and wife, Karen, Frank R. Chiodo, Jr. and his companion, Karen Baker, all of Warren, PA., Greg L. Chiodo and wife, Jacqueline LaWarre of Pittsburgh, PA. Grandchildren – Angela Jerman, Christina Martin and husband, Michael, Anthony Chiodo, Brittany Chiodo, Courtney Chiodo, 2 Great Grandchildren – Zachary and Autumn Jerman, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 Brothers – Sylvio, Donald and John Chiodo, 4 Sisters – Elaine Johnson, Clara Pascuzzi, Victoria Jenkins, Ann White.

Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA., on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. where a vigil service will be conducted at 3:45 P.M. Members of the Warren K of C 4th Degree will stand as Honor Guard and their funeral ritual will be held at 7:45 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA., with Fr. Richard J.
