Essie M. Cogdill, 95, a resident of Warren, PA., since 2003, died

Monday morning, November 21, 2016 with her daughter at her

side at the Rouse Warren County Home. Essie was born on June

11, 1921, in Fitzgerald, GA. She grew up and lived most of her

life in Florida, until she moved to Warren, PA., to be near her

daughter. Essie served as Postmaster in St. Marks, FL., until she

transferred to Williston, FL., where she continued as postmaster

until her retirement in 1987. Essie was active in the Florida

Chapter of the National Postmasters Association and proudly

served a term as president of that organization. She was also a 50

year member of the Eastern Star, serving in the Crawfordville,

FL., and Chiefland, FL., chapters. Essie was a long time member

of the Williston First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday

School at various levels and worked with youth groups. After

moving to Warren, she became a member of the Calvary Baptist

Church where she especially enjoyed her Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her daughter, Kay McConnell and her

husband, David, of Warren, PA., a granddaughter, Gavin R.

Young and her husband, Rob, of Asheville, N.C., two great

grandsons, Beckett and Silas Young, and several nieces and

nephews. Essie was preceded in deat by her husband of 62 years,

James Seldon Cogdill, her father and mother, Reverend and Mrs.

J.A. Watts, her brother, John L. Watts, and her son-in-law, Tom

Raker.

Funeral services will be held at a later date in Williston, FL. Essie

will be inurned next to her husband, James S. Cogdill, in the Oak
