E. Lorraine Gerhart, 86, of Coudersport, PA died Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport.

Lorraine was born on October 18, 1927 in Lansdale, PA and was the daughter of Carl G. and Ella F. Radcliff Sprouse. On January 15, 1960 in Sellersville, Pa she married Samuel W. Gerhart, who died on June 24, 1992.

Lorraine and her husband moved to the Coudersport area in 1965 and had owned and operated Sam’s Motel, now The Laurelwood Inn, until 1972. She was a member of Park United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women, served on the Administrative Council and helped with the prayer chain. She was also a member of Coudersport Office Girls. Lorraine had volunteered at the Coudersport Senior Center and at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed shopping, yard sales, traveling, playing pinochle and especially loved her family.

Surviving are sons, Donald Wilson and his wife, Kathy, of N. Fort Myers, FL, Bruce Wilson and his wife, Ruth Ann, Brian Wilson and his wife, Kathy, Terry Gerhart and his wife, Stephanie, John Gerhart and his wife, Christina, all of Coudersport, PA, Samuel R. Gerhart and his wife, Brenda, of Florida, David Gerhart and his wife, Linda, of Camp Hill, PA, one daughter, Hope Giordani and her husband, Frank, of Lansdale, PA, 25 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Paul Gerhart, daughter-in-law, Sundra Gerhart, and her brother, Carl G. Sprouse, Jr.

Friends may call at Park United Methodist Church, 15 E. Third St., Coudersport, PA on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at which time funeral and committal services will be held with the Rev. Scott Ogden, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Homer Cemetery in Inez, PA. Memorial contributions in Lorraine’s memory may be made to the Coudersport Senior Center, or to Park United Methodist Church. The Donald E.
