Dwight Drum, 69, of Wesley Chapel, FL, and formerly of Warren, PA, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2016 following a brief illness. Born on August 22, 1946 he was the son of the late Kenneth T. and Arbutus M. Johnson Drum. Dwight is the loving brother of Debra Speicher (Greg) of Buffalo, and Craig (Rosemary) of Florida. He is survived by close nephew Gary Larsen that stayed by his side to the end. Dwight is also survived by many other nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Dwight was preceded in death by two sisters Norma Larsen, Dolores Minford, a brother Gordon and niece Christy Elardo and 2 nephews Duane Drum and Mark Larsen. Dwight was an alumnus of the University of Buffalo and University of South Florida. He served in the U.S. Army and retired as a Federal Postal worker. His degree in writing and love for it opened up his credentials to be a writer, interviewer, photographer and editor of Motorsports, boosting the racing experience with NASCAR, NHRA, and Manufacturers Cup. His writings also put him in Chicken Soup for the Soul and two books, Money Eye, and Fast Talk.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial and celebration of Dwight’s life to be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Pleasant Community Church, 673 Pleasant Drive, Warren, PA, with Rev. Marcus Briggs, Chaplain of Warren General Hospital, officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by the John Gertsch Vietnam Memorial Post and members of the U.S. Army.
