Dorothy F. Seiz, age 98, of 701 Rouse Avenue, Youngsville, Pa., died on July 28, 2013 at the Rouse Home in Youngsville, Pa. She was born December 23, 1914 in Hatfield, Pa., a daughter of the late Henry B. and Lanie K. Finnemeyer. She and her husband lived in Little Marsh, Pa. for over thirty years before moving to Youngsville in 1991. They were members of Saron Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carl H. Seiz, who she married on June 24, 1936 in Adamstown, Pa., and who died in March 1994; three brothers, Lester K. Finnemeyer, Lawrence K. Finnemeyer, and Harry J. Finnemeyer; two sisters, Margaret F. McArthur and Beatrice K. Finnemeyer; daughter-in-law, Judith L. Seiz and great-grandson Shawn C. Seiz. She is survived by her son, C. Gary Seiz, Warren, PA; her daughter, Lucinda (Marcus) Briggs, Russell, Pa.; four grandchildren, David (Ellen) Seiz, Warren, Pa., Lori (Brooke) Buckner, Hatfield, Pa., William (Lynn) Shultz, Sheffield, Pa., and Matthew (Susan) Shultz, Golden, Co.; five great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Thomas (Beth) McCarty, Rebecca Seiz and her companion Michael Johnston, and Lillian and Haven Shultz; two great-great-grandchildren Michael and Isabella Johnston; sister-in-law Shirley Finnemeyer; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy considered graduating from Mansfield University in 1972, forty years after graduating from Hatfield High School, as her greatest achievement. She was happiest when she was sharing her passion for music with others and considered her experiences teaching elementary school students in the Northern Tioga School District to enjoy and perform music, as the highlight of her long and varied life. She will be remembered fondly by her loved ones and those whose lives she touched with her talent, creativity, enthusiasm, and sense of humor. A memorial service will be held at Saron Lutheran Church in Youngsville, Pa. on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Mark Fischer, Pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service. Interment will be in Hatfield Lutheran Cemetery, Hatfield, Pa. at the convenience of the family.
