Doris M. Carr Nuhfer, 92, of Warren, PA, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice Residence in Warren, PA. Born May 29, 1927 in Farmville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Ruffin and Carrie Brann Carr.

Doris had lived in Warren since 1946 and was employed with the former Anderson’s Shurfine for 12 years. She was a faithful member of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church where she served on the Church Center committee, funeral luncheon committee, and had been in charge of the Church activities schedule and was active in the RCIA program and confirmation classes. She also served as an usher, and as a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Doris was also a member of the Warren Bocce League, Warren YMCA, AARP, Gold Star Mothers, and the American Legion Post 135 Ladies Auxiliary VFW.

Doris is survived by her 5 Children – Marty Nuhfer and wife, Jen of Warren, PA., Timothy R. Nuhfer and wife, Barb of Reading, PA., Joseph A. Nuhfer and wife, Cindy of Warren, PA., John A. Nuhfer and wife, Cindy of Sacramento, CA., Katherine “Kay” Klakamp and husband, Chris of Sheffield, OH; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; 4 sisters – Shirley (William) Sutton of Goldsboro, NC, Nicey King, Diane (Gordon) Whitehurst, and Carrie Hudson, all of Greenville, NC; 2 brothers – Richard Carr and C.L. Carr, both of Greenville, NC; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, William J. “Bill” Nuhfer, Jr., whom she married on October 5, 1946 at Holy Redeemer R.C. Church in Warren, PA, and who passed away on October 21, 2017; 1 son – Danny Nuhfer; and 1 sister – Grace Boyd.

Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA., on Sunday, January 5, 2020, from 6pm to 8pm where a vigil service will be conducted at 5:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Monday, January 6, 2020, at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, 11 Russell Street, Warren, PA., by Fr. Stephen Schreiber, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery.
