Betty Deane Walters Zinz, of Brookdale Retirement Community, Lakewood, N.Y. and formerly of Clarendon, PA., died unexpectedly Saturday, September 13, 2025, at UPMC Chautauqua, Jamestown, N.Y. She was born in Newmansville, PA., she was the daughter of Francis M. and Grace I. Carbaugh Walters. Betty has been a Warren area resident for the past 10 years, and was formerly of Cooperstown, PA. She was a gradute of Cranberry High School and Venango County Technical School, where she earned a nursing degree. She was employed at Franklin Hospital, now known as UPMC – Northwest for 40 plus years. She was an avid reader and good cook. Betty was a member of Cooperstown Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She is remembered by her family as a woman who was well loved by many friends, who loved animals and was a great nurse.
She is survived by her Children – Matthew Zinz, Donna (Ned) Melton, Edward (Kelly) Zinz, Sonya (Paul) Zinz, William (Jennifer) Zinz, 4 siblings – Marilyn I. Schoder of Clarendon, PA., Laura M. Stowe of Russell, PA., Harry “Jack” Walters and wife, Della of Irvine, PA., Helen Sharp and husband, Bruce of Rocky Grove, PA., 13 Grandchildren & 11 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 2 Sons, Adam and Michael Zinz, 2 Brothers – Aubrey & Lerone “Bud” Walters, Granddaughter – Kalyn Kaster, 2 Great Grandchildren – Blake Alan and Ella May Schmidt.
Friends will be received on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon, A funeral service will follow the visitation at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. with nephews, David Carson and Rev. Jim Stowe, officiating. Interment will be in Amity Cemetery, Newsmansville, PA.
