Lois Retterer Speaker, 91

Lois Retterer Speaker, age 91, of Warren, PA died Wednesday, May 16. She was born October 5, 1920 in Warren, PA to the late Frederick L. and Gladys Marie Paddock Retterer.

She is survived by 3 daughters – Jen Aylyce Pratt, Melinda A. Kiser and Kristina L. Nelson, all of Warren; three grandchildren – Monica Pratt, Justin Pratt and Patrick Kiser, all of Warren; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In life Lois was a very private person. In honoring our mother’s wishes, there will be no visitation hours.

Wallace P. “Wally” Kujava, 65

Wallace P. “Wally” Kujava, 65, of Warren, PA. died Friday evening, May 11, 2012 at Warren General Hospital after a 3 year battle with cancer. He was born January 20, 1947 in Warren, PA. to Carmen Mauk Kujava of Sheffield, PA. and the late Joseph Kujava . He was a 1965 graduate of Sheffield High School.

Wally was employed with United Refinery Company as a Maintenance Supervisor retiring in 2009 after 35 years employment. He was a member of the Warren Moose Lodge 109 and the Warren Eagles Aerie. He enjoyed driving his Chevy Corvette and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his 3 children – Julie Johnson and husband, Brad, Sandy Schott and her companion, David Tudor all of Warren, PA., Stephanie Nelson and her companion, Corey Nelson of Russell, PA., his former wife and good friend, Cindy Tamburlin of Warren, PA., 1 Sister – Mary Lee Rossi and husband, Fred of Adrian, MI, 6 Grandchildren – Damiond Zimmerman, Mackenzie Schott, Sabrina Johnson, Destiny Nelson, Kendra Tudor, Nakita Nelson. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by 2 Son –in –laws, Paul Wade and Scott Nelson.

Chas E. Barone, 76

Chas E. Barone, 76, of Warren, PA. died Sunday evening, May 6, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born April 1, 1936 in Warren, PA. to the late Anthony P. and Rose Spattifor Barone and has resided most of his entire life in Warren.

He was a 1954 graduate of Warren High School and had served in the U.S. Navy from July 13, 1954 until June 12, 1958 as a Seaman 2nd Class. Chas was employed with the former Nichols Gas Station as a mechanic for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Warren Sons of Italy where he presently served as financial secretary since 1983.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny” Siliano Barone whom he married May 13, 1961 in Warren, PA., 1 Daughter – Ann Peroski and husband, Stephen, 1 Son – Frank A. Barone all of Warren, PA., 1 Brother – Lawrence Barone and wife, Barbara of New Cumberland, VA., 1 Grandson – Michael Peroski of Erie, PA., 1 Granddaughter – Crystal Borst of Warren, PA., 1 Great Grandson – Dominic Wright of Warren, PA., several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother – Francis Barone who died in 1933. There will be no public visitation hours observered. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. at St. Joseph R.C. Church with Fr. Richard J. Toohey, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery. Edward G. Laughrin, 60

Edward G. Laughrin, 60, of Warren, Pa. died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA. He was born April 1, 1952 in Warren, Ohio to the late Edward William and Margaret Ellen Butler Laughrin. He has resided in Warren since 1988. He was a 1971 graduate of Gerard High School, Gerard, Ohio. While in high school he earned his pilot’s license flying light aircraft. He had served in the U.S. Navy as a E4, serving in El Salvador in 1985, Persian Gulf in 1986 and with Special Operations in 2002. He earned a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star Navy Achievement Medal, U.S. Coast Guard Unit Commendation with operational device. He served in the Civil Air Patrol 304th Squadron . He was employed with the Warren State Hospital as a psychiatric aide and basic life support instructor retiring from there on September 11, 2002 after 13 years service. He was previously employed as a design draftsman from 1973 until 1984. He graduated from Madison University from the College of Social and Human Relations where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Relations with a 3.6 grade point average. He was a member Holy Redeemer R.C. Church and a member of the Warren American Legion Post 135, a member of the former North Warren V.F.W. Post 747 where he had served as Past Commander, a member of the Clarendon V.F.W. and was a 3rd degree member of the Warren Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ann McKee Laughrin whom he married March 7, 1988 in Titusville, Pa., 1 Son – Edward R. Laughrin and wife, Niki of Austin Town, Ohio, 3 Stepchildren – Tina Hogue and husband, Aaron of Titusville, Pa., Rusty Smith and companion, Wendy of Centerville, Pa., Barbie Baker and husband, Art of Tionesta, Pa.; 1 Granddaughter – Mackenzie Laughrin of Austin Town, Ohio, 6 Step Grandchildren – Alyssa Smith of Centerville, Pa., Ashley Baker, twins – Tera and Tyler Baker all of Tionesta, Pa., Easton and Brittany Hogue of Titusville, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 sister – Mary Francine Laughrin. Friends may call at the Holy Redeemer Church gathering space on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 10:00 AM. until 11:00 A.M. when a Mass of Christian Burial which will be conducted with Msgr. John Lucas, Pastor, officiating. Full military honors will follow mass by members of the Clarendon/Sheffield V.F.W. Funeral Detail. Interment will be in St. Catherine’s R.C. Cemetery, Titusville, Pa. Janyce Jones Bunk, 88

Janyce Jones Bunk, 88, of Warren, Pa. died Wednesday evening, May 2, 2012 in Warren General Hospital following a brief illness. Born March 31, 1924 in Sheffield, Pa. to the late Lloyd B. and Ella Mae Lesser Jones, she was a life-long resident of the area. Janyce went to work at Barnhart Davis Co. /NAPA following her husband’s death. As with everything she ever tackled, she was passionate about her work, and proud to say that she never missed a day. She had given much of her time to volunteering with WGH and Meals on Wheels. Janyce was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Women’s Club and Conewango Valley Country Club.

She is survived by her three daughters – Karen Brunson and her husband, Joseph of Colorado Springs, CO, Jodi Moore and her husband, David of East Amherst, NY, and Hallie Dubia and her husband, Donald of Cocoa Beach, FL; a son – William T. Bunk, Jr. and his fiancé, Tracy Jones of Warren; six grandchildren – Deb and Kate Moore, and Will, Libby, Lauren and Matt Bunk; and six sisters – Vida Stout of North Olmsted, OH, Marilyn Rose of Kane, PA, Beverly Hoden of Englewood, FL, Bonnie Wolfe of Southern Pines, NC, Anita Jones of Alexandria, VA, and Nancy Oliphant of Russell, PA.

Janyce was preceded in death by her husband – William T. Bunk, whom she married on June 26, 1948 in Warren and who died on May 15, 2001; three brothers – Leonard, Robert and Bruce Jones; and five sisters – Leah Miley, Bea Host, Elaine Raider, Eppie Jorn and Dee Reiff.

A celebration of her life will be held at 12:30 – 2:30 pm, Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the Conewango Club, with private entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum of the Ascension on Saturday, May 26, 2012. Frances Baczkowski, 81

Frances Tomassoni Baczkowski, 81, of Warren, PA. died April 28, 2012 at her residence after suffering an apparent heart attack. She was born September 3, 1930 in Warren, PA. to the late Tomasso and Victoria F. Brindis Tomassoni. She was a lifelong resident of Warren and a 1948 graduate of Warren High School. Fran was employed as a waitress for many years and retired from Blair Corporation after 19 ½ years service. She was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, where she was a former member of the Altar Rosary Society and had served as a Lector. She was also a member of the church cursillo movement. Fran is remembered by family as a woman of much love and concern, who loved her nieces and nephews more as a mother figure, than as an Aunt.

She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by her 3 brothers – Tony F. Tomassoni and his wife, Alice, Charles J. Tomasone and his wife, Alice and Nick S. Tomassoni all of Warren, PA., several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Edward J. Baczkowski whom she married May 1, 1965 in Warren, PA. who died July 26, 1989, 1 Brother – Nick Tomassoni in 1929, 3 Sisters – Rose Tomassoni in 1932, Anna Jean McNitt, Mary Weidner. Larry M. Alleman, 63

Larry M. Alleman, 63, of Warren, PA. died Monday, April 23, 2012 in Hollywood, FL. He was born January 29, 1949 in Brookville, PA. to the late Lester and Faye Robertson Alleman. He has resided in Warren, PA. most of his life. Larry was a 1967 graduate of Brookville High School, Brookville, PA.

He had been employed with Accurite Corporation of Jamestown, N.Y. as a computer systems operator and had previously been employed with Blair Corporation. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 109.

He is survived by his 2 children – Fr. Timothy Alleman and his wife, Karie, of Luzerne, PA. Shawna Alleman – Thompson, PA. 1 Grandson – Cristan Alleman of Thompson, PA., Longtime Friend and Companion, Mary Briggs of Warren, PA. 1 Niece – Faith Baker and husband, Chuck of Jamestown, N.Y.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Leonard M. Alleman, brother, Leland M. Alleman, 1 Sister – Lois Yauger, former wife, Carol Flynn Alleman.

Vesta L. Moore, 95

Vesta L. Moore, 95, a resident of the Watson Memorial Home, Warren, PA. and formerly of Sheffield, PA. died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Warren General Hospital after an illness of the past week.

She was born June 15, 1916 in Renova, PA. to the late Ira Joseph and Mabel Madeline Delaney McKinnon. Vest was a resident of Warren Co. for the past 20 years. She was a 1934 graduate of Warren High School and was employed with the former New Process Company and former Pennsylvania Bank and Trust Company where she retired as Head Bank Teller after 20 years service. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Warren, PA. and a former member of the Sheffield United Methodist Church where she was a member of their bible study and had served as coordinator of the church vacation bible school. She was a member of the Sheffield Senior Center.

Vesta along with Ann Curtin, started the Sheffield Well Baby Clinic. She had served as coordinator of the Sheffield Red Cross Bloodmobile and the Warren County Girl Scouts. She was an avid bowler, golfer, cook, accomplished pianist and organist, and currently played at the Watson Home. She also enjoyed flower gardening. She is fondly remembered by those who loved her as being a woman who loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.

She is survived by her two children – Carolyn A. McFarland of Shippenville, PA., Richard D. “Rick” Moore and wife, Janelle C. of Warren, PA., 2 Sisters – Patty Paul and Kathy (Bill) Miller all of Cortland, Ohio, 1 Sister-in-law, Doris Moore of Sheffield, PA., 6 Grandchildren – Debra Nosel (Matt), Darren Moore (Dawn) all of Warren, PA., Richard T. McFarland of New York City, NY., Michael L. Grosch (Tom) of Austin, TX., Melissa K. Schmader (Dan) of Lucinda, PA., Carole Walter (Ron) of Siegel, PA., 8 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Moore who she married September 3, 1938 in Ridgway, PA.

Marion E. “Betty” Bathhurst, 77

Marion E. (Betty) Bathurst, 77, of 55 Highland Drive, Warren, PA. died at her residence, Friday afternoon, April 20, 2012 after an illness of the past couple of years. She was born October 29, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA. to the late Charlas John Hogan and Marion Elizabeth Guba. She has resided in Warren most of her life and was employed with Dr. Albert J. Turbessi for 24 years. She was a member of the Warren Moose Lodge 109, Warren Eagles Aerie and a former member of the Conewango Valley Country Club and Jackson Valley Country Club.

She is survived by her daughter Donna M. Nelson of St. Marys, PA. and her children Robert J. (Gunnar) Nelson and Michael D. Nelson both of Beaumont, TX., 2 Step Daughters – Faith Ann Peterson and her husband, Lance and Faith’s children David L. and Darren R. Sorensen, Dana J. Simmons and her husband, Mark and their children Shelby L. and Amy D. Simmons, all of Warren, PA., 2 Half Sisters Nancy Thud of CT., Barbara Thud of GA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, James R. Girill whom she married January 9, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA., 2nd husband, David A. Bathurst whom she married September 11, 1982 in Warren, PA.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of the Ascension in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery. Sarah R. Montore, 94

Sarah R. Montore, 94, a resident of the Warren Manor Nursing Home and formerly of Clarendon, Pa. died Wednesday evening, April 18, 2012. She was born April 12, 1918 in Clarendon, PA. to the late Frank and Dora Sparco Montore. She was a lifelong resident of Clarendon and had been employed for 34 years in the dietary dept. at Warren General Hospital retiring from there in 1980. She was a member of St. Anthony’s of Paduca R.C. Church and a former member of the former St. Clara’s R.C. Church.

Sarah is survived by her sister-in-law, Doris Montore of Clarendon, PA., Nephew – Joseph Montore and his wife, Lisa and their daughter, Lily all of North Huntington, PA., Niece _ Jude Bartels of Florida, Larry Albaugh of Michigan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 Brothers – Joseph Montore in infancy, Joseph Montore in 1987, Samuel Montore, 2 Sisters – Minnie Watson, Agnes Montore, 2 Nephews – Samuel “Sammy” Montore, Jr., James Albaugh.

There will be no visitation hours observed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, April 23, 2012 at St. Anthony of Paduca R.C. Church, Saybrook, PA., with Rev. Fr.
