Albert E. Hoffman, 88, of Warren, PA. died Sunday evening, March 10, 2013 at the Warren Manor Nursing Home after an extended illness. He was born July 16, 1924 in Warren, PA. to the late Charles and Nellie Gosden Hoffman. He was a lifelong area resident. A 1942 graduate of Warren High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He had served with the U.S. Navy during World War II as an air crewman and Fleet Airwing #7, serving in Africa, European Atlantic Submarine Hunting Squadron accumulating 1400 hours. He earned a Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal with one gold star. Albert was a contractor who helped build the Warren County Vocational Technical School where he also was a school teacher, teaching carpentry retiring in 1986. He was a union carpenter with Carpenter Union 1014 for 66 years. He was a member of North Warren Presbyterian Church, longtime member of the board of directors of Weiler Cemetery Association where he served as a past president and trustee, charter member of the AMVETS, Frewsburg American Legion Post, Warren Moose Lodge 109 and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, trapshooting, wood carving and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Norma L. Victory Hoffman whom he married June 19, 1982 in Warren, PA. 2 Children – Nan Oviatt and husband, Brian of Pittsfield, PA., Dan Hoffman and wife, Erin of Warren, PA., 1 Stepdaughter – Deborah Ludwig and husband, Michael of Topsom, Maine, 2 Brothers – Raymond Hoffman of Chandlers Valley, PA., Ralph Hoffman and wife, Betty of Warren, PA.,1 Sister – Frances Darling and husband, Ed of Youngsville, PA., 5 Grandchildren – Nicole Klark, Seth Hoffman, Ben Oviatt, Sam Ludwig, Jonathan Ludwig, 1 Great Granddaughter – Olivia Hoffman, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Brothers – Donald and George Hoffman, 2 Sisters – Vera Taft, Margaret Carlson, 1 Grandson – Chad Peterson. Friends may call at the Donald E. A funeral and committal service will be Conducted there Friday, March 15, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. by Rev. Buddy Ward, Pastor, officiating. Full military honors will be Conducted by members of the Clarendon/Sheffield V.F.W Funeral Detail and the U.S. Navy Personnel. Interment will Be in Weiler Cemetery, Warren, PA.
